scraps
This is a hubcap covered in a 3d spiral of scraps of copper and metal and wire. I also used miscellaneous pieces of garbage. The piece is part of a project called Landfill Art. http:www.landfillart.org
It is a project implemented by an artist named Ken Marquis who decided to take 1000 hubcaps from a landfill and have artists make them into art. Please check his project out: www.landfillart.org. There are so many very cool hubcaps.
These are the last pieces that I completed. They are studies in coloring metals and coppers and making hanging art with that. I enjoy the process of creating patinas on pieces of copper by exposing them to heat, amonia, sawdust, vinegar and various other elements.
Currently I am working with garbage such as tin cans, thrift store items, plastics, and various recycled objects to make sculpture and wall pieces. As soon as I finish some I will post photos. My favorite materials are aluminum cans, tin cans and bottles.
